Freehand drawing of Wolverine from reference. I first used a 005 micron pen to trace my pencil marks, which looked fine, but when I used my brush pen to jazz it up, things went bad, oh so bad….
Today I learn that I am simply going too fast, even for easy lines. I am going to strive to slow down going forward. I am also going to mix it up and start using a variety of pens, including Microns, instead of just depending on the brush pen.
Dr. Seuss characters, drawn freehand from reference. I used a Pentel Pocket Brush for the ink. I need more practice for sure, but not a terrible starting point.
I recently discovered a new way for me to stretch and grow my artistic abilities, Inktober. Inktober is a drawing challenge created by Illustrator Jake Parker, who started it as a way to force himself to become better drawing with ink. I decided to try Inktober and so that I can learn where my opportunities with inking exist and hopefully get better through daily practice.
